The Professional Counseling Service provides confidential counseling for families, couples and individuals addressing the personal and relationship challenges of life. A staff of Licensed Clinical Social Workers, whose combined counseling experience totals nearly seventy years, is here to assist you in dealing with life’s challenges. Professional Counseling consists of a variety of areas.

These areas include:

  • Counseling for individuals, couples, families and children.
  • Issues around substance/chemical dependence.
  • Critical incident/crisis response/trauma support services.
  • The parent-child relationship.
  • FSA NEPA’s collaborative relationship with Luzerne County.

The Professional Counseling Service is in full compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) which ensures the privacy and confidentiality of client protected health information (PHI). FSA NEPA is a member of the Alliance for Children and Families, which has pre-approval from the PA State Board of Social Work Examiners to offer continuing education credits to PA Licensed Social Workers. Our counseling service is a provider for many local companies that offer an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) benefit to their employees. We are one of the largest EAP providers in Northeastern Pennsylvania and also a member of the Employee Assistance Professionals Association. FSA NEPA accepts most major health plans. Please contact us to see if we accept your insurance.

Our office hours are Mondays 8:30 am to 8:00 pm; Tuesdays through Fridays 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. A component of the Professional Counseling Service is Making Changes: An Anger Management Program. This program will help participants learn to control their anger before it controls them. It is a skills building program for adults seeking to better understand how their feelings, thoughts and actions associated with anger help and hinder their personal relations. Participants will learn to: identify personal attitudes about anger; understand anger as a complex feeling; express anger in a healthier and more productive manner; resolve conflict responsibly; deal with criticism or another’s anger more appropriately; manage stress more effectively and communicate effectively.
